Long and easy, the Layercake Panel Skirt is a great base to start a layered outfit, whether you combine it with a Smock or Tabard or that fab jumper you've recently added to your wardrobe. When we started to wear these ourselves (we "road-test" our garments first before we unleash them on you all) we found an excuse to wear them every day, interrupted for a quick wash only to throw them on again as soon as they were clean. Waiting for a garment to be washed so you can wear it again immediately is one of the feedbacks we receive most about our Layercakes so when we felt the same out the skirt, we knew you'd love it too.

We have given it a kick-pleat in the front with a clever combination of ribbons that can either be tied to create the pleat or left loose to give the skirt a smooth front panel.

The bottom panel of the skirt is made using a double layer of fabric, adding to the way the skirt hangs and making it extra sturdy and long-wearing. The skirt comes in 2 sizes and 2 lengths (see the size guide below), to ensure that it falls nice and long on most frames.

The Slow Wardrobe sizes
We follow our own sizing system, recognising that the traditional system of "ladies dress-sizes" does not account for body shape and height. See how The Slow Wardrobe sizes relate to body measurements HERE.

Skirts
These garments are designed to fit a very wide range of sizes and heights, from a UK size 10 to 28. Check these garment measurements to give you an idea of their dimensions. All skirt lengths are measured from the top of the waistband down to the bottom of the hem, along the side seam.

Linen Care & Washing Instructions
Every Layercake has washing labels sewn into them, usually in the left side-seam.
All our linen is pre-shrunk, unless stated otherwise and can be machine-washed at 40º C and either line-dried or machine-dried. If you machine-dry them, take them out of the dryer as soon as it finishes and hang them up straightaway, then you will not have to iron them.

Our Linen
Linen is one of the world's strongest textiles and most sustainable fashion choices, creating zero waste as every part of the plant is used (for textiles and food). Our linen is all European grown, yarn-dyed and woven especially for us, then boil-washed to pre-shrink it.

Find out more about our linen.

Wearability
Linen is not only a Summer fabric, it is also a natural insulator, providing warmth when it is needed and offering the perfect base for a layered look, trapping air between the layers to keep you cozy year-round.
